DISTRICT COUNCIL 37 ENDORSES PADAVAN

District Council 37 (DC 37), New York City’s largest public employee union, announced today their endorsement of Frank Padavan for the 2010 election in the fall. DC 37 represents 125,000 City municipal workers in a range of fields including health care, education and social services and 50, 000 retirees.

“We are proud to give our endorsement to Senator Padavan for the 2010 election,” DC 37 Executive Director Lillian Roberts said. “Day in and day out, Frank is fighting for all working New Yorkers and their families. His unwavering support, independent leadership and straightforward approach to the challenges facing our City and State are needed today and for years to come.”

In a letter to Padavan announcing their endorsement, Wanda Williams, DC 37 Political Action and Legislation Department Director wrote: “We endorse you because we believe you will continue to protect the interests of our members, the City of New York and working people in general. We look forward to working with you towards improving the quality of life for working people across New York state."

“I want to thank the leadership and the membership of DC 37 for their strong endorsement,” Padavan said. “I am honored to once again have the backing of the hardworking men and women who provide countless services that New Yorkers rely upon. I look forward to continuing to work with DC 37 into the future to build a stronger New York and provide the very best services for the City’s families, children and seniors.”
